MKB Romexterra to be relaunched as a niche bank
MKB Nextebank is the new commercial brand under which MKB Romexterra, a small bank, indirectly controlled by German group Bayern LB, is preparing to launch its operations in the wake of an extensive restructuring process.
"A new identity was needed. We realised we could not carry on as
a universal bank, there are already too many. What we are planning
to do is have as our target not lawyers, doctors or notaries, but
their respective guilds," says Dan Sandu, 41, appointed CEO of MKB
Romexterra in spring, after Adrian Radu ended his second term. The
bank's legal name will be kept, at least in the near future, but
promotion will be done under the Nextebank brand and under a new
logo, which uses the image of a sprinting cheetah.
Practically, the bank will seek to work its way onto the niche of
liberal professions, and come with specialised products meant to
address specific needs of lawyers, notaries and doctors. Sandu
specifies the strategy targets not only financing products, but
focuses especially on trading services, which can be offered via
"remote banking" platforms - internet banking, mobile banking and
ATM networks with extended functionalities. The new Internet
banking service, as well as the core banking IT system have been
developed internally.
