3D revolution doubles the number of cinema viewers in just two years
More than four million viewers watched the cinema premieres in
the first nine months of this year, according to the data provided
by Champions agency, which monitors the Romanian box-office on a
weekly basis. 900,000 more than last year and double the number of
2008, reads BUSINESS Magazin.
This means that people like going to movies, even though, given the
average salary per economy, the costs of such entertainment are not
necessarily low. The average price of a cinema ticket stands at 15
RON for classical productions and at around 20 RON for 3D ones.
Adding the classical menu, juice and popcorn, the budget for two
people goes even higher.
Champions figures reveal quite a small market, and cinema operators
say there is room for better, but that they are satisfied for the
moment as they garnered considerable increases at a time when
leisure budgets have dropped.
"3D movies are to blame, their success has brought this growth,"
considers Constantin Fugaşin, Champions agency founder.
