Carlos Duarte takes reins of H&M's Romanian operations
Sweden's H&M (Hennes & Mauritz) giant has appointed Carlos Duarte to supervise its Romanian operations starting next year, when it is set to open at least six stores in March-April alone.
"Carlos Duarte, who was a country manager in Poland and
Switzerland, will fill the same position at the Romanian
subsidiary. The rest of the management team has already been chosen
domestically, but the recruiting process is not over, yet. We're
still seeking employees for our stores," Charlotta Namlin, a press
officer with H&M, told ZF.
Unlike its rivals Inditex or New Yorker, which chose their
management from among Romanian managers, H&M selected a manager
from inside the group to start and develop the domestic
business.
The company started recruiting for middle-management positions as
early as September. After having disclosed the commercial spaces it
subsequently started to fit out, the company also sealed contracts
with businessman Iulian Dascălu for Iulius Mall of Timişoara and
Cluj and for the shopping area of Palas project of Iaşi.
