Most valuable companies in FMCG sector

A soft drinks producer (Coca-Cola), a cigarette producer (British American Tobacco) and a beer producer (Ursus Breweries) are the top three most valuable companies in the fast moving consumer goods sector, valued at 1.42 billion euros, show data in ZF's Yearbook "Top 100 Most Valuable Companies in Romania".

In fact, the three industries that the three companies represent, tobacco, beer and soft drinks, supply the biggest number of valuable players in FMCG, eight companies out of a total of 12 in the FMCG industry, whose cumulated value exceeds 3.3 billion euros, around 60 million euros less than in 2009.
Explanations for the presence of these industries among the top ones have to do with the big turnovers (BAT - over one billion euros a year, Coca-Cola - around half a billion euros), with the size of the markets they represent (the top three consumer markets that Romanians spend around 4.5 billion euros on per year), the profit margins recorded, as well as with the brand and marketing strategies.
