Polish firm takes 51% in Scop Computers for 5m euros
The majority stake in Scop Computers, former leader of the local
IT&C distribution market, was taken over by the ABC Data group,
the biggest IT&C distributor in Poland. The transaction was
worth 5 million euros, and the two parties agreed that the Polish
side would become the sole owner in a few years' time, so that
Romanian founders - Alexandru Vişan and Dragoş Stan - could collect
a different amount, i.e. up to 1.675 million euros, depending on
the net profit derived by Scop in 2010.
This is the second transaction sealed with a Polish group, after
selling Net Consulting integrator to Asseco in 2007.
According to data from the Finance Ministry, Scop Computers posted
81.5 million euros in turnover last year, down from 117.1 million
euros in 2008. The company derived a 1.4 million-euro profit and
had 24.8 million euros in overall debt at the end of December 2009.
The company was leader of the local IT&C market after the
decline of Tornado Sistems, and lost the no. 1 position to the
distribution division of the Asesoft group, controlled by Sebastian
Ghiţă and Iulian Stanciu.
