Interagro group reaches 1bn-euro sales
The Interagro group, controlled by businessman Ioan Niculae, who owns several businesses in agriculture and the chemical industry, could end this year with one billion euros in turnover, up 39% against last year. Over 75% of this year's turnover is generated by fertiliser production, with the rest being accounted for by agriculture.
"The best year was 2008, when we reached 1.2 billion euros in
overall turnover. Last year we saw a decline to 720 million euros,
but this year we will see an increase. Towards the second half of
the year we saw a rebound, both of the chemical industry and of
agriculture, where, for higher production we obtained higher prices
against last year," Ioan Niculae said.
The Romanian entrepreneur yesterday inaugurated a biscuit and
wafers plant in Zimnicea (Teleorman county), following a 5
million-euro investment, saying that "all production and processing
businesses bring a profit at some point or another."
