Dacia sells 2.5bn euros' worth of cars in Europe
Automobile Dacia sales will exceed the 2.6 billion-euro mark in
Europe this year, according to ZF estimates, up nearly 40% against
the similar period of last year. The higher rise in the value of
sales than in the number of cars registered comes at a time when
the average price of a Dacia has risen to around 10,000 euros from
a prior 8,000 euros, with the current best-selling model being the
Duster SUV, whose price can exceed 18,000 euros. Dacia officials
did not wish to comment on the figures, citing data
confidentiality.
In the first 11 months of this year, Dacia registrations in Europe
went up by over 11% against the similar period of last year,
according to statistics of the European Automobile Manufacturers'
Association (ACEA), to 242,700 cars, equivalent to over 2.4 billion
euros, according to ZF calculations.
Production of the Mioveni plant will also be higher this year than
originally estimated, driven by demand for the Duster SUV, which
the French wait as much as seven months for.
"Automobile Dacia's output will rise by more than 10% this year,
with more than 330,000 vehicles assembled in Mioveni," said
Constantin Stroe, vice-president of Automobile Dacia.
