Corporate contracts drive Happy Tour sales up 19%
Javier Garcia del Valle, CEO of the biggest travel agency on the
Romanian market, Happy Tour, which is controlled by Spanish
investment fund GED, says the company recorded a 19% turnover
increase in the first ten months of this year against the similar
period of last year, without specifying the absolute value.
"The growth was largely driven by the corporate segment (services
sold to corporate clients), but the leisure segment contributed, as
well," said Javier Garcia del Valle.
With 25 years' experience on the travel agencies market, Garcia del
Valle was brought to Romania by investment fund GED at the
beginning of March last year. Happy Tour ended 2009 with an around
29 million-euro turnover and a 296,000-euro profit, according to
Trade Registry data.
Spanish investment fund GED this year bought 80% in Travel House
travel agency, with 6 million-euro sales and a 110,000-euro net
profit last year. Travel House International, with 26 employees in
2008, specialises in selling luxury packages for domestic and
international destinations, which used to be held by Corina
Souvannasouck (30%), Stefano Bardi (25%) and Luca Zucchetti
(45%).
