Ski holidays three times cheaper in first week after New Year's Eve
A five-day holiday in mountain resorts of Prahova Valley and
Poiana Braşov around the New Year's Eve costs over 500 euros and
can get as high as almost 800 euros at a three-star hotel, up to
three times more than a holiday at the same hotel in the first week
after the New Year, reveals a ZF survey.
"The price difference is accounted for by the fact that close to
the New Year's Eve we're offering, besides accommodation and
breakfast, dinner and a celebrating meal on the New Year's evening.
In the first week of 2011, the 188-euro price for four nights
includes only accommodation and breakfast," stated a representative
of Pantex three-star hotel of Poiana Braşov.
"In Romanian mountain resorts, demand for New Year's Eve
accommodation exceeds offers by far. There are also many Romanians
willing to pay as much as it takes to spend their New Year's Eve at
the mountain. Given these aspects, many hotel owners are able to
ask for high, in some cases exaggerated prices," stated Mircea
Vladu, owner of Prestige Tours travel agency that seals contracts
with hotel owners.
