Computerising the state

The Romanian Government announced a giant computerisation project, with an estimated value of 500 million euros, but few of the objectives became reality. Even if they do not reach 500 million euros, the state's IT projects will go ahead, estimate providers of services, because the administration is beginning to grasp that it cannot be efficient if its data are not interconnected and put in context, believes Horaţiu Berdilă, CEO of Romsys, one of the largest providers of solutions and services on the Romanian market.

Outsourcing IT&C services

Companies will continue to outsource IT operations, especially on the IT infrastructure segment, but mostly through small contracts, according to estimates on the Romanian market. Companies will continue to outsource their IT departments, for instance, to specialised companies, in order to focus on their core business.

Cloud Computing

Cloud computing services, allowing companies to access applications and data on remote servers from specialised providers are still at an incipient stage of development. But the market could see fast growth as companies realise these solutions are a way of cutting costs, making the acquisition of high-performing servers, for instance, unnecessary.

Social networks

Social networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn will continue to gain ground and be used increasingly more by companies to promote their services or to find the employees they need.

Security software

The explosion of social networks will also generate bigger business for providers of security software because the number of cyber attacks will in turn rise on such websites, estimates Cătălin Coşoi, head of online threats of BitDefender, a Romanian developer of security software.
