Market research transaction: Nielsen buys MEMRB
Cypriot market research company MEMRB, with an over
40-year history in the sector, has been acquired internationally by
The Nielsen Company, one of its competitors. The international
transaction involves activities of subsidiaries of the two
companies in several countries, among which Romania.
"The Nielsen Company has acquired MEMRB operations in 28 of the 32
countries in which the company operates. Our immediate focus now is
to work closely with MEMRB to ensure smooth transitions for our
clients," said representatives of The Nielsen Company, who added
they could provide further details for the time being.
Nielsen Romania posted 3.46 million euros in turnover and 685,000
euros in losses in 2009. MEMRB posted 3.28 million euros in
turnover in 2009 and a gross profit of around 65,000 euros.
The Nielsen Company, with operations in over 100 countries, is a
media research giant, with 5.12 billion dollars (3.87 billion
euros) in turnover last year and an operating profit of around
715-730 million dollars (540-552 million euros).
