La Fântâna expects 5% annual rise driven by household and water purifier segment

Mihai Matyas, general manager of watercooler bottler La Fântâna says he bets on purifying systems and on the residential segment this year, which could boost turnover by 5% (both in volume and in value).

Matyas's choice is justified by the fact that increasingly more companies have started to switch from watercoolers to systems that use tap water, in order to cut costs. At the same time, the residential segment recorded 30% rises last year.

"This segment (of purifiers i.e.) accounts for a very low share, of around 20% in Romania as opposed to 40% in Western Europe," said Matyas.

La Fântâna delivers both to the residential (household) segment and to companies. The company is not present in stores, nor does it plan to develop this business segment.

Last year the company posted 17 million euros in sales last year, similar to the 2009 figure. The residential segment accounted for 5% of La Fântâna's turnover, and deliveries to companies for the rest.
