The Urlaţi, Prahova, plant of US Procter&Gamble giant, one of the few plants built from scratch in Romania after 1990 on the consumer goods segment, has come to manufacture shampoos and hair care products at 40% of total capacity.
"Since September, since the official plant opening until now, we've reached 40% of total capacity and we hope to keep up our growth pace and reach an 80% production capacity by autumn," said Cornelia Sofronie Piţigoi, external relations manager with Procter&Gamble Marketing Romania.

The US group's representatives have not specified the plant's total production capacity so far.
Though unwilling to specify the value of exports, P&G representatives stated that around 90% of overall production had gone abroad over the past three months.
Romania has thus become a shampoo exporter though it has to import both soap and toothpaste because Colgate-Palmolive US giant in 2008 closed the last plant it held in the country, in Braşov.
