120 foreign funds among Fondul Proprietatea shareholders

A number of 120 foreign investment funds have come to hold 18% in Fondul Proprietatea capital, revealing thus the high interest the biggest listing in the Bucharest Stock Exchange's history stirred in Europe.
"It is extremely good for Romania that Fondul Proprietatea has
such a high number of foreign investment funds among its
shareholders. In the light of events in Japan, Romania needs to
attract investment funds' interest and money to cope with the new
economic conditions," said Nicolae Ivan, the representative of
Cartesian US fund, the first to become a FP shareholder in the
summer of 2008.
Together with Cartesian, which owns 2.7% in the Fund according to the latest data available, the foreign funds that entered FP also include an investment fund belonging to the world's biggest money manager, BlackRock, East Capital's Swedish investment funds, Charlemagne, Danske, Avaron, Trigon funds. The Romanian state is the biggest shareholder in FP, with 36.79%.
