Fourteen of the 76 companies listed on the main market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) have so far announced they would disburse dividends from profits derived last year and at least another three companies are due to make such announcements, with the total value of sums awarded to shareholders going beyond 1bn lei (247m euros), according to ZF calculations.

Last year, 23 Bourse companies awarded dividends from 2009 profits, including Fondul Proprietatea that was not listed yet, with the total value of dividends hitting 1.86bn lei (436m euros), in which FP dividends accounted for over 1.1bn lei, though.

Not including FP dividends, the total sum due to be distributed to the shareholders of the other companies tops last year's, although large issuers such as Alro Slatina (ALR) have not announced their plans in this regard.

The biggest dividends are likely to be disbursed by Transgaz Mediaş gas transmission company (TGN), which, while it has not announced the dividend value, yet, is forced by the state to distribute 90% of last year's profit to shareholders. The value of Transgaz dividends may top 330m lei.
