Transport Minister Anca Boagiu, who announced on March 22nd that she had not found a general manager for Tarom and that one of the options she was considering was private management, had signed as early as March 14th an order appointing Gabriela Bordea, sales manager of the airline, as general manager.

"Based on order 172/14.03.2011 of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Gabriela Bordea took over (as of April 1st i.e.) the responsibilities of the position of general manager of the National Romanian Air Carrier Tarom," Tarom officials said in an April 1st release.

Boagiu said on March 28th at a ZF seminar that she had not found a general manager for Tarom, and would even place ads in the Financial Times in order to recruit someone. Moreover, on March 24th, she said at another seminar that she would introduce private management in state companies, which would be the best solution. In a press conference on March 22nd, she said "we are currently looking for a boss for Tarom," although she had signed the order to appoint a Tarom manager back on March 14th.
