Austria's Kronospan group, one of the biggest players on the wood processing market, has budgeted 290m euros in turnover for this year, up around 10% against 2010.

"The increase will come amid the rebounding domestic furniture industry and real estate sector," said Oana Bodea, Kronospan representative.

The Austrian group is present in Romania in three areas, Braşov, Sebeş and Constanţa, with the biggest company being Kronospan Sebeş, a manufacturer of wood boards. The 290m-euro estimate refers to Braşov and Sebeş operations.

In the first three months of the year, Kronospan figures were similar with last year's. "The domestic market has stalled both in terms of constructions industry and of furniture market (since the start of the year i.e.)," said Oana Bodea, who added that exports had got to 60% in this period. The main countries where Kronospan exports are Turkey, Hungary and Ukraine.

Kronospan is also one of the biggest exporters in the field of wood processing, with deliveries abroad topping 200m euros last year, up 50% from 2009.
