Road passenger carriers increased the number of coaches coming from Spain, Italy, as well as from Germany and Austria around Easter holidays, as part of the Romanians working abroad returned home.

"Romanians are connected to their country, and they return home on holidays. This year, around Easter, there were more Romanians coming home from Spain, Italy and Germany than in the same period of last year," said Ilie Carabulea, the wealthiest businessman in Sibiu, who controls Atlassib and several road carriers, as well as other businesses.

Carabulea maintains that so far in April almost 47,000 Romanians have been transported to and from Romania, up 15% from the same month of 2010.

Dragoş Anastasiu, owner of Eurolines company, in turn maintains that owing to Romanians returning home on Easter the number of passengers carried to Romania has almost doubled against a normal period.

"Romanians also sent more parcels during this year's Easter holidays than last year. Almost 30% more parcels were transported," Carabulea stated.
