A number of 120 foreign investment funds have come to hold 18%in Fondul Proprietatea capital, revealing thus the high interestthe biggest listing in the Bucharest Stock Exchange's historystirred in Europe.
"It is extremely good for Romania that Fondul Proprietatea hassuch a high number of foreign investment funds among itsshareholders. In the light of events in Japan, Romania needs toattract investment funds' interest and money to cope with the neweconomic conditions," said Nicolae Ivan, the representative ofCartesian US fund, the first to become a FP shareholder in thesummer of 2008.
Together with Cartesian, which owns 2.7% in the Fund accordingto the latest data available, the foreign funds that entered FPalso include an investment fund belonging to the world's biggestmoney manager, BlackRock, East Capital's Swedish investment funds,Charlemagne, Danske, Avaron, Trigon funds. The Romanian state isthe biggest shareholder in FP, with 36.79%.
