Four important companies operating on the Romanian software market yesterday established a consortium that has already submitted a bid for the last auction announced and organised by the Communications and IT Ministry (MCTI) for the projects of computerising the Romanian society.
The four partners, TotalSoft, Siveco, IPACRI and Softwin, decided to join forces and enter the competition for winning the pilot project "Expanding the IT system for watching the accounting balance and the fiscal duties of economic agents able to submit balance sheets on the web."
The project consists in designing an IT solution allowing to define and implement the electronic transfers of information regarding the annual balance sheets, accounting reports on June 30 and the fiscal duties with the help of Internet technologies.
The project will be implemented for the large taxpayers in a first stage, while its implementation for all the taxpayers is scheduled for 2002. This project also aims to broaden access to the information stored in the central and territorial database of the Finance Ministry.
The solution provided by the software companies should include the manner of "implementing the information transfer through the Internet for a sample of 50 large taxpayers in a first stage and continuing the implementation for up to 1,000 large taxpayers," reads a document delivered by MCTI.
The IT solution should also include methods allowing 70% of taxpayers to move to electronic communication.
"It is new for a consortium comprising four IT companies to bid for the auction and we hope this will be a milestone for the Romanian IT market. We also hope to convey a message regarding the soundness of the domestic software industry. Only large foreign companies operating in Romania founded such consortiums so far, as IBM or ICL teamed up with domestic software producers. We think it is time that the Romanian software companies concluded such partnerships," Liviu Dan Dragan, general manager of TotalSoft SA, which initiated the partnership, told Ziarul Financiar.
