Angel Airlines, a new company operating on the Romanian market of passenger air transportation, will buy five aeroplanes this year. The first, a Jetstream 32 aircraft manufactured by British Aerospace, was delivered last week.
The company plans to revive the domestic passenger transport activities starting with August 22, when the first flight from Bucharest-Baneasa airport to Baia Mare is scheduled, Azad Khosro, the owner of the new airline company, maintained.
"The initial investment is worth three million dollars. Angel Airlines will originally operate five aircraft of the same type, which will become fully operational this December," Khosro said.
Baneasa airport will host the company's aircraft and the centre of its national operations. "When all the aircraft are operational, we expect 411 flights monthly, generating annual turnover of about $8m," the company's owner said.
"The aircraft will operate on Romania's main destinations, with two flights a day for each destination," Tatiana Vasile, marketing and sales manager, said. The rates are 82 dollars for one-way tickets and between 145-164 dollars for two-way tickets.
"We are not planning to compete with Tarom, as we aim at a different target client, the businesspeople. According to statistics, 85% of domestic flights are covered by businesspeople working in various fields, such as banking or insurance," said Azad Khosro, who is also chairman of Anglo-Romanian Insurance.
