Aquila group, one of the largest players on the FMCG distribution market, derived nine-month turnover worth 86.2 million euros, up 14% against the corresponding period of last year.
The results reported by the Aquila group do not include sales on foreign markets the company operates on, such as the Republic of Moldova, Serbia and Bulgaria, which amounted to 15 million euros last year.
"The 14% surge in turnover, posted over the first nine months, is in line with the growth pace projected for this year and is due both to the organic growth and to the diversification of Aquila group's operations," stated Jean Dumitrescu, managing financial director at Aquila Group.
Aquila is the main distributor of Unilever products on the domestic market, after the multinational decided to operate outsourced logistic services.
Major investments the group made last year were focused on the logistic segment, onto which it officially entered once it opened its first logistic centre in Ploiesti, in 2005, dedicated to Unilever.
"The trend related to outsourced logistic services noticed among producers as well as our wish to offer more efficient solutions to our clients prompted the group to enter the domestic logistic market.
"Our goal on the medium and long term is to strengthen our position as supplier of logistic services, both on the domestic market and in the Balkans", said Ileana Costanda, marketing manager of Aquila group.
The second logistic centre owned by Aquila, also built for Unilever, opened this July at Tureni, Cluj county. The two warehouses have required investment worth 8 million euros so far, according to data published by the group.
Aquila currently operates 36 centres in the country and intends to close a number of its small warehouses, so as to open regional distribution centres near big cities over the forthcoming years.
