Employees of the Romanian Commercial Bank subscribed to around 30% of the shares sold by Erste Bank to the group's employees as part of this year's programme to ensure staff loyalty, according to Ionut Stanimir, spokesman for the Austrian bank in Central and Eastern Europe. BCR employees subscribed around 220,000 shares out of a total of 665,000 shares bought by employees of the Austrian group. The stake bought by Romanian employees accounts for approximately 0.07% of Erste Bank's overall shares. "BCR employees subscribed to around a third of the shares subscribed by the entire group. In fact, they currently lead the ranking, leaving behind our Austrian employees," said Stanimir. BCR employees, as well as those working in other companies within the Austrian group, were able to buy Erste Bank shares up until May 18, for 20% less than the average April trading price on the Vienna Stock Exchange.
