31.08.2000, 00:00 14

The community of Romanian and American businessmen will organise its second conference on September 2, in Los Angeles, reads a statement issued by the Romanian Embassy in Washington.

Romanian-American Business Network (RABN) represents a forum hosting debates and an exchange of information and experience between businessmen of Romania and North America.

The network was initiated at the beginning of the year in Washington and on January 15 it organised the first meeting of Romanian-Americans who wanted to invest in Romania.

The Romanian ambassador to Washington Mircea Geoana and the US ambassador in Romania James Rosapepe had major contributions to the launch of this project.

The second meeting of Romanian and American businessmen is meant to lay the legislative and juridical grounds for RABN as a distinct organisation and to submit its status and management for approval.

At the same time, debates will be held in two separate workshops: "Information technology, telecommunications" and "Production, services, trade and investments."

The organisation set up on this occasion will act as a source of information for the members of businessmen network, who will be able to access a web site and a personalised software package.

The conference will take place simultaneously with the Convention of Romanian Companies' Union and League, the oldest and largest Romanian organisation abroad, reads the same statement.
