Carlos Duarte takes reins of H&M's Romanian operations

Sweden's H&M (Hennes & Mauritz) giant has appointedCarlos Duarte to supervise its Romanian operations starting nextyear, when it is set to open at least six stores in March-Aprilalone.


"Carlos Duarte, who was a country manager in Poland andSwitzerland, will fill the same position at the Romaniansubsidiary. The rest of the management team has already been chosendomestically, but the recruiting process is not over, yet. We'restill seeking employees for our stores," Charlotta Namlin, a pressofficer with H&M, told ZF.
Unlike its rivals Inditex or New Yorker, which chose theirmanagement from among Romanian managers, H&M selected a managerfrom inside the group to start and develop the domesticbusiness.
The company started recruiting for middle-management positions asearly as September. After having disclosed the commercial spaces itsubsequently started to fit out, the company also sealed contractswith businessman Iulian Dascălu for Iulius Mall of Timişoara andCluj and for the shopping area of Palas project of Iaşi.
