Tax payers in Târgu Mureş and in Bucharest's sectors 2 and 6 canpay their taxes and fines online since yesterday through thenational system ghişeul.ro (www.ghiseul.ro), whichis managed and operated by the National Management Centre forInformation Society (CNMSI), an institution subordinated to theCommunications Ministry.
Whilst at present only local authorities whose mayors are fromthe parties that support the Government (PD-L and UNPR) have joinedthe National Electronic System for Online Payment of Taxes usingbank cards (SNEP), the system will grow in the future, because theGovernment has issued a decision making it mandatory.
"The system is very easy to implement by any local authority. Inorder to do this, town halls only need to enrol in the system oftheir own initiative or at the request of the citizens theyrepresent," Vreme said. In order to make a payment, citizens willaccess the SNEP through a username and a password, which they willget from the local authorities, after which they will get access toa list of their tax dues.
