After two years of lobby, the Confederation of Employers Associations in Romania (CPR), headed by businessman George Copos, has finally succeeded in gaining international acknowledgement.

The General Council of International Employers Organisation unanimously decided to welcome the Romanian association into the organisation, as a full-fledged member.

George Copos, chairman of the Confederation of Employers Associations in Romania, says that joining the International Employers Organisation is a very important step for the movement of employers in Romania.

"The Confederation of Employers Associations in Romania is the only employers organisation in the country to be member of the International Employers Organisation," George Copos told Ziarul Financiar.

He says that the Romanian employers association has tried to get into the International Employers Organisation for two years and that the consolidation of the employers' movement can be done by alliances between the Confederation of Employers Associations in Romania and the other employers organisations.

He is considering a tie between CPR and the General Union of Industrialists-UGIR 1903. The employers' movement in Romania is not united yet.

"The purpose is to create a sole voice to speak with the Government and the Unions and look after the best interests of the employers in the private sector," George Copos said.
