Dacia expects Sandero to take sales up by at least 13%

11.07.2008, 19:39 8

One month after its launch, Sandero, the latest Dacia model, has become the driving force behind Automobile Dacia's sales growth, which are estimated to go up by more than 13% worldwide this year. Judging from this growth rate, the sales of Automobile Dacia will reach more than 260,000 vehicles in both Romania and abroad in 2008.
Looking at the trend in the first half of the year, when sales of the Romanian carmaker went up by 13.3% and reached 127,276 units, company officials estimate that the growth rate will continue in the second half of the year, at least at the same level. The value of Dacia's sales, based on an average price of 8,000 euros, amounts to over one billion euros.
"The first half results were in line with our expectations and for the rest of the year I see no reason why we shouldn't exceed a 13% growth rate in sales. We expect to achieve even better figures in the second half, taking into consideration the launch of the Sandero and the face-lifted Logan, which will have an impact on sales," stated Jacques Daniel, commercial manager of Renault Nissan Dacia.
Sandero, the latest model in the Dacia range, sold almost 1,500 units in June, with 5,100 orders placed for it since its launch, which is why Dacia's commercial manager says it could become the range's best-selling model.
"With the current market conditions it is quite hard to make accurate forecasts, but demand for Sandero is above expectations, and the deliveries we make on the domestic market largely depend on how we prioritise production," Daniel stated.
Daniel had previously estimated that Sandero sales in Romania would reach 13,000 units in 2008.
