Delta ACM '93, one of the biggest road builders on the market,has reached 50m-euro investments, around half of which aimed atbuilding materials production facilities, after deciding tostrengthen its business, which has been sliding since 2007. FloreaDiaconu, 50, owner of the company, maintains that because of thebooming business, he invested in the construction of the company'sown asphalt mixing station as late as 2004, though the firm was setup in 1993. Until then, the company had purchased asphalt fromother producers. "All the investments I've made were out of need.Had I found serious suppliers and coped with no quality problems, Iwouldn't have invested in construction materials production,"Diaconu explains. Delta has poured 25m euros in the development ofa base in Ilfov in the past four years and plans to continueinvestments. Diaconu maintains the business he runs is undergoing aconsolidation process, after having doubled its turnover yearlyuntil 2007. Diaconu has investment plans for other fields, as well,such as bio-energy and industrial equipment.
