Telephony operator Dial Telecom SRL Romania (DTR) has become a member of the Romanian digital television services provider Digital Cable Systems (DCS), following the purchase of the entire stake in the company by DCS, a transaction closed on December 15. "We will be able to finalise the transaction after receiving the approval of the Competition Council, and subsequently register it with the Trade Registry," reads a Dial Telecom release. DTR anticipates a 6.6 million-euro turnover for this year, and an operating profit (EBITDA) rate of around 11%, being one of the most important alternative operators of voice services for companies on the local market. The company was set up in December 2000 by a group of investors from the Czech Republic, following an initial investment of 200,000 dollars, consisting of subscribed capital, equipment and technology. DTR started operating in June 2001 as an alternative operator providing services exclusively to corporate clients in Bucharest and the surrounding area. According to the latest data from the Trade Registry, from January, Dial Telecom was held by Cyprus-based Ventimiglia Holding. "The transaction will enable DTR both to expand its service coverage nationally, and to become a triple play operator (IPTV, telephony and Internet i.e.) by the end of 2008," the company's general manager, Florin Furdui, said in the release.
