19.01.2007, 18:20 12

Cluj-based Ecolor, a furniture manufacturer working exclusively for the Swedish group Ikea, has budgeted investments of some 3 million euros this year, to expand its furniture plant and acquire new equipment. "This year we will expand production capacities by another 10,000 square metres, due to the growing demand for furniture on the external market. Based on the number of orders we are estimating for 2007, we will double production and, as a direct result, expand the number of employees by 50 to 200 this year," Marcel Puscasu, Ecolor's general manager told ZF Transilvania. According to him, the plant in the Jucu commune in Cluj County has a total surface area of some 10,400 square metres. Ecolor will continue to manufacture the three types of furniture it currently produces for Ikea this year, only in larger quantities.
