US group Emerson, with 22bn-euro turnover, which is operating a 125m-euro investment in Tetarom II industrial park in Cluj-Napoca, says it will step up expansion domestically and will build one plant every year for the next three years and ultimately reach six production centres in Romania. By yearend, Emerson will also start producing electrical generators for wind turbines and professional equipment in the second plant in Tetarom II. At present, Emerson's facilities in Cluj-Napoca employ around 300 people. The first Emerson plant also includes a research centre - REDEC, which will be the base of the company's future projects. Emerson Romania's management plans to raise the number of employees from 300 to 2,000 by 2010, after the company initially estimated the over 125m-euro investment in the industrial park of Cluj-Napoca has been carried out over a five-year period. According to Emerson representatives, the plants in Cluj will work both for clients from Europe and the Middle East. "It's impossible not to find people in a city as big as Cluj. Almost all our workers were recruited in the area of Cluj, most of them being faculty graduates and also young engineers," said Calin Banciu, general manager of Emerson Romania.
