Eurocopter Romania delivered its first product on the foreign market on Tuesday, almost two years since Eurocopter took over part of IAR Ghimbav. The company upgraded a Puma helicopter belonging to the UK Ministry of Defence, with the total contract worth approximately 2 million euros, according to Eurocopter sources. The contract with the British party entails modernising three more helicopters, but can be extended to additionally cover two more aircraft. "There is a history of Puma helicopters here in Brasov, which made us confident of going with Eurocopter. We have also offered our support for development. The project had a difficult beginning, but things turned out very well in the end," said Paul Meeghan, a representative of Defence Logistic Organisation (UK). Eurocopter Romania representatives said the Puma helicopter was brought to Ghimbav after having performed nearly 3,000 flight hours in the service of the British military. ZF
