Microsoft Romania announced top management changes on Tuesday. According to the company officials, these changes were generated by the heightened importance Romania holds within the corporation and by an over 50% rise in revenues for the fiscal year ending in June. Silviu Hotaran, who founded Microsoft Romania ten years ago, will return to the helm of the local branch of the biggest global software producer. Ovidiu Artopolescu, who was general manager until Tuesday, will become manager of complex projects for Central and Eastern Europe. Ovidiu Artopolescu held the position of General Manager of Microsoft Romania for two and a half years, whilst Silviu Hotaran was in charge of Microsoft business within five countries in South-Eastern Europe. Microsoft officials explain the change in management, "which is not a common one," by the fact that Romania now falls into a different category, now that it has joined the European Union and after Bill Gates' visit to Bucharest.
