Local administrations planning to automate their tax and duty collection process have one more option to choose from as of Tuesday. The software was developed by the Bucharest-based IT Systems Company and promises to solve every problem the city halls are facing when collecting the citizens' fiscal debts.
The room where the presentation was held was practically packed. The software collects the people's personal details, sets the taxes and charges they have to pay to the state, issues reports showing the paid or overdue debts, manages fines and can be linked to other applications (population record, voters' record, cadastre and urban planning applications, global income tax, treasury or Romanian Savings Bank) at all times.
The application runs on a high-performance server and on a virtually limitless number of client computers. The client-server structure allows centralising, storing and processing all the data in one place, that is the database server.
The client computers only collect data, send them to the server and then use the feedback it provides. This prevents the data collected from multiple sources in various formats and versions from being stored and processed on separate machines, with possible errors, as well as incomplete or outdated records.
Furthermore, the client computers do not store the actual data, but only the executable application interface. The database is created on the dedicated server and secured by a firewall and a backup. The data are periodically stored on other supports (such as CDs).
