It is within every living thing's nature to communicate with nature. But challenging nature to show a different face than the usual one is the work of an artist. Petru Bogdan photographs nature one way, women another.... Because he just graduated from the Directing Faculty (two years ago), Petre Bogdan knows how to create the right mood for his subject (a young woman, a cloud, a wave or the moon) in such a way it will gain new expressions. The success of his little bit of directing was bigger than expected. His first display that just recently ended (23 - 26 March 2000, in the Hilton lobby) was the first step towards his future successes. He received many proposals for new galleries in new spaces. Starting Monday, April 3, his pictures will be exhibited at the Uniter Gala in the lobby of the National Theatre. The 24 portraits and 12 landscapes bearing the generic title of "Adagio" will demonstrate how nature's poetry can be re-created and presented under a different light. "Nature responds to the need for communication through shape. The colours of nature are those of the light that attires the portrait. The way we are born with a soul and in a body, we are also born with a special image. The image is complete. The image is the being's truth." This is how Petru Bogdan thinks and his philosophy is perfectly embodied in his photographs. In the forests of Baneasa, on the seaside, in bars or on the streets he surprised the visage of his love. The sad, feminine slowness fills the photographs in rotating lights. Special techniques were used to render the sun and the moon. Like the act of creation, there was nothing common in the techniques he used. He never employed highlights or blitzes. He used regular light bulbs, natural lighting or even car lights. This is how "Adagio" was born. Within the show accompanying the display, Laurentiu Grigorescu will play his violin. The photographs are also accompanied by verses by American poets. If Mark Burge from "Regus" made this display possible, Ilinca David was the stimulus behind it all. The photographs birthed by love are not easily forgotten.
