Mercedes-Benz sees 38% rise on stagnating market

Mercedes-Benz Romania, representative on the local market of the brands of the Daimler and Chrysler groups, posted a 38% sales increase in the first eight months of the year compared with the same time last year, a total volume of 6,633 cars. According to previous statements from Michael Grewe, the company's CEO, the target of Mercedes-Benz Romania in 2008 is 12,000 units, 50% more than last year. Mercedes Benz's car division sold 1,955 cars, up almost 26% against the same time last year, exceeding Audi's sales, which went up 5% in the same interval, to 1,937 units. The best-selling Mercedes-Benz model was C-Klasse, with 580 units, up 30% against the same time in 2007, with this year's target being 700-800 units. Sales of light utility vehicles of the Mercedes Benz brand advanced by over 100% in the same period, to 3,132 units.
