MKB Nextebank is the new commercial brand under which MKBRomexterra, a small bank, indirectly controlled by German groupBayern LB, is preparing to launch its operations in the wake of anextensive restructuring process.
"A new identity was needed. We realised we could not carry on asa universal bank, there are already too many. What we are planningto do is have as our target not lawyers, doctors or notaries, buttheir respective guilds," says Dan Sandu, 41, appointed CEO of MKBRomexterra in spring, after Adrian Radu ended his second term. Thebank's legal name will be kept, at least in the near future, butpromotion will be done under the Nextebank brand and under a newlogo, which uses the image of a sprinting cheetah.
Practically, the bank will seek to work its way onto the niche ofliberal professions, and come with specialised products meant toaddress specific needs of lawyers, notaries and doctors. Sanduspecifies the strategy targets not only financing products, butfocuses especially on trading services, which can be offered via"remote banking" platforms - internet banking, mobile banking andATM networks with extended functionalities. The new Internetbanking service, as well as the core banking IT system have beendeveloped internally.
