Natuzzi, one of the world's largest sofa manufacturers, has bought 116,00 square metres of land in Baia Mare, where it will build a new plant, said Francesco Stasolla, the company's vice president. The Italians already own a sofa factory in Baia Mare (ItalSofa Romania), which last year logged more than 21 million euros in sales. Almost the entire output of ItalSofa Romania is exported. "We are very happy with the activity of our existing plant and we aim to expand by building a new factory. If there are no problems worldwide and Romania's economic situation continues to develop under the same parameters, the project should begin in 2005 or 2006. We have already bought the land because we want to be prepared," Stasolla maintained. ZF
