Businessman Nicolae Minea this year expects 5m-euro revenues, up67% from last year, from Hilton Sibiu five-star hotel (the formerPalace Resort&Spa), in which he invested 25m euros for theaffiliation to Hilton international chain. "With integration intothe Hilton chain, the occupancy rate and the hotel's revenues wentup, with the hotel witnessing an increase of around 30% in turnoverfrom 2008," stated Dana Modrescu, marketing & PR manager withthe hotel, which operates 115 rooms and apartments, 4 restaurants,one bar and 5 conference halls. A spa centre has been recentlyopened in the Sibiu hotel, on a 1,500 square metre area. The hotelaccommodates both businesspeople, of whom 15% are foreigners, butalso tourists. Unlike the Bucharest five-star Hilton hotel,operating under a management contract, the Hilton hotel of Sibiuoperates under a franchise system, allowing the owner to appointhis own management team. The Sibiu hotel employs 125 people.
