General insurance company Omniasig, a member of the Austrian group Vienna Insurance, intends to change its name to Omniasig Viena Insurance Group, according to a call to General Meeting of Shareholders published in the Official Gazette. At the GM on April 20, shareholders will also analyse the results of the portfolios taken over from Omniasig - AGI and Omniasig - ASIRAG. Omniasig is the biggest company in the portfolio of the Austrians at Vienna Insurance on the local market, taken over in the spring of 2005. In the spring of 2006, the chairman of Omniasig, Constantin Toma, took over the management of all of Vienna Insurance's business in Romania. The company has a 29.5 million-euro share capital and handled gross underwritten premiums worth 104 million euros in the first nine months of 2006. The insurer did not reveal results for the whole of 2006, with estimates indicating gross underwritten premiums worth 150 million euros.
