The liberalisation of the petroleum market at the beginning of 2007 took the business of local petroleum trader Oscar Downstream straight into the top ten of local petroleum companies, after Petrom, Rompetrol, Lukoil and Mol. The company?s presence in the ranking, right behind these companies, makes Oscar Downstream the biggest Romanian petroleum company unaffiliated to an international business. The Oscar Downstream business is based on the trade of refined petroleum products (mainly diesel oil, but also petrol), and is forecast to reach 300m-euro turnover this year, according to the company?s general manager and majority shareholder, Alin Niculae. The company?s turnover amounted to 60m euros in 2006 and 170m euros in 2007.
