Almost 100,000 Romanian tourists are expected to ski this winterin Austria's Salzburg and Steiermark alone, one of the mostimportant ski regions of Austria, including 25 resorts under thename of Ski Amade, according to Austrian tourism officials.
"Against last winter season, I believe we will have a 27% increasein the number of Romanian tourists, considering more Romanians camethis summer than we'd expected and prices stayed at last year'slevel," stated Cristoph Eisinger, managing director with Ski Amadeassociation.
The resorts were last winter visited by 1.3 million tourists, ofwhom 0.6% Romanians, according to the data provided by CristophEisinger.
"(...) Most Romanians coming to ski in Austria get here in theirpersonal cars, but not Dacias, but luxury brands such as Audi orBMW," says Martin Zeppezauer, managing director of Gastein skiregion.
He also said most Romanians choose to stay in four-star hotels inAustrian ski resorts and on average spend one-week holidays.
A Romanian tourist going to Austria to ski spends almost 1,000euros, a sum including accommodation, meals, the ski-pass,according to Zeppezauer.
