Radiocom, one of the main suppliers of communications networks and services and leader of the local broadcasting services market, has started the development of a second digital terrestrial television emitter in Romania, in a project worth over 51 million dollars (some 40 million euros). The project became operational in December, last year, after an emitter was installed in the Bucharest area. The emitter in Sibiu will become functional in autumn, and will be located in the Paltinis Station. Radiocom's investment in the emitter in Sibiu stands at some 500,000 dollars. The supplier of the equipment is Rohde &Schwartz and the Bucharest-based Romkatel is subcontractor in this project. The emitter's power is 1.3 kW and will cover the central part of the country, including Sibiu, Alba-Iulia and Fagaras. This emitter will be used to broadcast programmes of TVR 1 and TVR 2 (the national TV channels) and commercial TV channels Antena 1, PRO TV and Realitatea TV.
