Since December 2005, when RASDAQ was absorbed by the BucharestStock Exchange, over 2,000 companies have been delisted from thismarket. The string of delistings continues with tens of companiesevery month, and if the Stock Exchange and the CNVM (NationalSecurities Commission - which oversees the capital market) do notreach an agreement on the status of this market soon, before longthey may not have anything left to regulate.
Established in 1996 and modelled after the American NASDAQexchange, the RASDAQ market is far behind its American counterpart,considering the dizzying pace at which it is losing issuers, andthe lack of transparency characteristic to a large part of listedcompanies.
Since its establishment, the RASDAQ market has lost around 4,000companies, and currently has 1,482 issuers with a 3.3 billion-euromarket capitalisation. Since the start of the crisis, 500 companieschose to delist, with the market's capitalisation down by around 4billion euros.
