Razvan Munteanu to become new Raiffeisen VP

23.03.2005, 00:00 36

Raiffeisen Bank is preparing to install a new vice-president who will be responsible for retail operations. The new VP will replace Rasvan Radu who recently became president of UniCredit Romania. Banking sources say the most likely candidate is Razvan Munteanu, 39, who held a similar position with Citibank Romania until 2003 and who is now waiting for the final approval formalities at Raiffeisen HQ in Vienna to be completed. Steven van Groningen, Raiffeisen Bank Romania's president, said recently that an official announcement would be made early in April. In the three months since Radu left the Austrian bank, long lists of potential successors have been circulated on the market. The main features of the job profile are age, indicating a preference for young bankers, and retail expertise. In the final decision a Romanian banker was chosen, partly to maintain a balance on the board of directors, which includes Steven van Groningen, the president, James Stewart, the vice-president responsible for the treasury and capital markets, and Marinel Burduja, the corporate division vice-president.
