In the world of games, there is a rule that is frequentlyrecalled by managers in the field and rigorously applied when itcomes to strategy. "The rule of the 20%. Practically, 80% of themarket is the same, irrespective of the country, and just 20%differ," Spiros Jamas, head of CD Media Greek company, distributinggames through Best Distribution.
A component of the 20% applied to the Romanian market would be thefact that inhabitants are more enduring in the face of the crisisand difficulties.
Translated in the games industry, the difference meant an increaseof over 5% of turnover, to 17m euros last year and will lead, in2010, to renewed growth, with the market set to go beyond 18meuros, a figure including only games, not consoles.
In the face of economic hardship, Romanians preferred to cut, amongothers, expenses related to going out or holidays and entertainmentas a whole and preferred spending more time at home, playinggames.
