Cluj-based Eurotrucks, an importer of new and second-hand trucksand trailers, expects a 10 million-euro turnover this year, down byover 58% against last year. The Cluj-based company ended the 2008financial year with 24 million euros in overall sales. "The bulk oflast year's sales were recorded in the first half of the year,before the financial crisis broke, so we managed to end 2008 at alevel close to that of the previous year. This year the truckmarket has been significantly affected by the financial crisis, bythe instability of the exchange rate, by fluctuations in fuelcosts, so our company's sales fell by over 60% in the first half ofthe year against the similar period of last year," Beatrice Man,controlling manager at Eurotrucks, told ZF. According torepresentatives of the Cluj company, the decline of theconstruction market had a negative impact on truck sales. Inparallel there was a rise in competition, so suppliers accumulatedstocks of vehicles, and the sale process became much moredifficult.
