Schneider Electric eyes 20% growth

28.06.2004, 00:00 6

Schneider Electric Romania, the supplier of electrical distribution and industrial automation solutions, aims at 20% growth in euros this year, following last year's 30% increase, said Jacques Francescato, the company's general manager.

The company is the domestic branch of French Schneider Electric group, one of the world's biggest players in this field, with annual sales revolving around 10 billion euros.

In Romania, Schneider last year derived turnover standing at 30 million euros, 30% higher year-on-year. The Romanian unit was set up in 1997 and now has around 100 employees.

"The Central and Eastern European region was one of the most dynamic last year, with a 25% turnover leap as compared to 2002. In Romania, the main source of income are the equipment supplies for the electrical power distribution to the industrial, energy sectors, for infrastructure and buildings, while the share of the residential sector, of household users, is still low, but we intend to increase it," Francescato said.

Schneider Electric holds production units in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Bulgaria.

The company's representatives early this year announced a plan aimed at doubling production in Central and Eastern European countries, which might also entail the creation of a production unit in Romania.

"A significant project for this year is linked to equipment and automation supplies, for a project developed by Hidroelectrica for the modernisation of Rucar hydropower station on Dambovita river. The value of this project exceeds one million euros," Francescato also stated.
