Schneider reshuffles management in bid to expand

28.09.2005, 19:11 10

Schneider Electric Romania, the domestic branch of the international group specialised in equipment for electrical distribution and industrial automation, has designated French manager Antoine Bajeux to be its new marketing director. Bajeu replaces Florin Anghel, who has become commercial director.

Bajeux, 40, has worked with Schneider Electric since 1990 and comes from France, where he was in charge with corporate policy for the brand management segment. He contributed to the development of a number of brands belonging to the producer of power and industrial equipment, such as TAC, MGE UPS and Power Supply.

"We want to instate regular collaboration with our partners, as well as strengthen our domestic position. The residential market is another strategic point for Schneider Electric Romania," Bajeux told Ziarul Financiar.

His goals during his mandate as marketing manager include strengthening Schneider Electric''s position as one of the top suppliers of equipment on the Romanian market, as well expanding the company''s distribution network.

The company now has six outlets in its network, and is planning to open another one by late next month in Bucharest''s Militari district.

"We want to gain a strong position on the Romanian power market. Thus, we want a stronger relationship with Electrica," Bajeux said, adding that the economic environment, human potential and the size of the market - one of the largest in the region - are boosting the attractiveness of the domestic business environment. Despite this, poor-quality infrastructure and problems related to the fact that Romania is not yet a member of the European Union represent serious hurdles in foreign business development.

"Infrastructure is a major problem in our business. Customers require maximum flexibility in a minimum time interval, and this translates into efficiency problems for us," warned Bajeux.

Among other things, the company is aiming to provide distributors in the electrical sector with advice, training services and software solutions, based on its expertise accumulated in this field.

Schneider Electric has been operating under this name in Romania since 1993, after putting the representative offices of Telemecanique and Merlin Gerin under the same umbrella.
